I find the overall loyalties of Americans to be very interesting.
The loyalties are obviously to Americans frst. We are up in arms whenever anything bad happens to an American. The second loyalty is to English speaking countries, particularly those inhabited by white people (India is English speaking but lower on the totem pole). As an example I offer up the situation in the past winter olympics when the Canadian pairs skates lost out on a gold medal because of some deal between the Russians and the French. The entire nation got pissed off in support of out neighbors to the north. And of course, we have a whole lot of coverage on the bombings in London.
This week sometihng like 80 people were killed in Egypt due to a bombing and 40 in a bombing in Iraq. And although these are major headlines, they do not dominate the news cycle.
Jed Bartlet: Why is the life of somoene in Kundu worth less to me than an American life?
Will Bailey: I don't know Sir, but it is.
